News and Information

All Stars Tournament Approved

The El Segundo Recreation and Parks Commission approved the Region’s request to host the Area 1D All Stars tournament this year. The tournament is planned to begin Jan 18 and run through Feb 8. Typically, the U10 All Stars play at the Campus El Segundo fields. U12 and U14 Divisions play at other fields in Area 1D – Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Westchester, Hawthorne, and El Segundo.

League Champions Tournament

Teams in the U10/U12/U14 Divisions are eligible to compete in the Region 92 post season tournament, regardless of the team’s regular season record, provided the team has achieved the required number of Referee points (see the Fall season standings page).  The post season tournament begins Dec 1 and ends with the Championships games on Dec 13.

The winner from each Division is eligible to advance to the Area 1D League Champions tournament beginning in January and possibly to the Section 1 tournament in Riverside in February.  Pool play for the Area 1D League Champions tournament begins January 4.

Region 92 will get Wild Card slots for GU10 and GU12 in the Area 1D League Champions tournament.  The regular season champion from GU10 and GU12 will automatically advance to the Area 1D tournament. The team that wins the Region 92 post-season playoffs will also advance, or if the regular season champion wins the playoffs, then the second place team from the playoffs will also advance. All other U10/U12/U14 Divisions will have the post-season champion advance to the League Champions tournament.

Referee Training

Teams in the U10/U12/U14 Divisions are required to supply referees for all regular season and post season games.  Teams qualify for the playoffs by meeting the minimum number of referee points during the regular season.

More details are available on our Referee page (see the VOLUNTEERS tab above).  Intermediate, Advanced, and National level certification courses are also available throughout Southern California and highly encouraged for referee advancement.

El Segundo goes Platinum!

Region 92 was honored as an AYSO Platinum Region Award for Excellence!

The Regional Assessment Program is designed to recognize Regions for their successful implementation of AYSO programs in their local communities. Regions that actively support AYSO philosophies and policies, strive for constant improvement and demonstrate a commitment to training its volunteers, may be Regional Assessment Program (RAP) award winners. Winners are awarded at four different award levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.  The Platinum award level is achieved if a Region receives 90% – 100% of the total points across all categories.

Congratulations to every volunteer, parent, player, coach and referee who tirelessly work so very hard to make El Segundo Region 92 a fantastic place for our children to enjoy soccer.
